Is there Any Way to Stop Smoking Permanently?
Let’s be honest. You’re addicted. Yes, you’ve been telling everyone that you can quit anytime you want, but deep in you heart, you know the truth. Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things you will do in your life!
What are some of the options you have available?
1. Going cold turkey: So many people try this route, and use their will power and determination.. Don’t kid yourself, this one also the highest failure rate. I’ve seen people walking and rolling an oxygen tank next them, and watch them every few minutes pulling the mask away to take a puff.
2. Are you using a Nicotin Patch? These are found at the local grocery stores, pharmacies, the big box stores, and online. A lot of people has had success with them, and at least it’s a healthier than what they are doing now.
3. Hypnosis: By using hypnotherapy techniques and positive affirmation can help you quit smoking by attacking the emotional and psychological addiction associated with smoking.
Ok, what if you try these options, and you regress and you’re puffing like a smokestack again, what then? Take a deep breath, and let’s look at what you’re trying to do. Why are you really trying to quit smoking?
You’re doing this because your short of breath, or you’re best friend has lung cancer, or you hate the way your mouth feels after smoking. Maybe it’s the comments people make because you smell like an ashtray. but it all boils down to you want to quit because of what cigarette smoke is doing to you and your health, right?
Let’s focus on the main issue. We know smoking is not healthy. But let’s be specific. “What’s unhealthy about smoking?”
Everything you say. Hold on there a minute, and focus. Did you know that when you light that cigarette, and you inhale, do you know what’s in the smoke? Read that again…You’re inhaling the smoke, the fumes, and the burning residue. That’s why they call it smoking right?
Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known cancer-causing (carcinogenic) compounds and 400 other toxins. These include nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide, as well as formaldehyde, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, and DDT. No wonder cigarettes are called cancer sticks! They are killers, and poison to many people!
Many people mistakenly think that nicotine is the substance in tobacco that causes cancer. This error has caused some people to avoid using nicotine replacement therapy when trying to quit. It’s the other substances in tobacco are responsible for its cancer-causing effects.
The issue is this, you know you don’t want all of this poison in your system but your body is craving the Nicotine, that’s the addictive part, that’s what you’ and your body is fighting against.
You see, Smokers are not addicted to cigarettes; one of the main addictives is the nicotine. So if that’s the case, what if we can focus only on the nicotine, not the other stuff you’re pulling in your lungs.
You’re shaking your head. You tried the Nicotine gum, and it didn’t work for you. Another option to try would be one of the electronic cigarettes. It’s not what you think; you don’t plug it in the wall or anything. The electronic cigarette is a device that will allow a smoker to inhale nicotine along with water vapor. There is no contaminants, the biggie is that is is no Tar or Carbon Monoxide. There are models that even offer a variety of flavors, and there are no flame, or dirty ashes. The device gives you the nicotine and the sensation of smoking a tobacco cigarette without the compounds that’s causing the harm.
A lot of people have had success with these devices, because they not only satisfy the Nicotine craving, but it also addresses the psychological issue of you actually holding a cigarette and here’s the key part, you are “smoking” without pulling the smoke in your lungs. Got it?
Every day you’re smoking is cutting time off your life. Obviously, it’s better to not smoke at all but at least take the first step of eliminating the killers from that cigarette in your hand. Let’s focus on the real issue. You’re addicted, ok? But not to just to cigarettes. Focus on the main issue, and get rid of that pack of cancer sticks.
